The ERD device – Engine Running Detector Unit simplifies the installation and supply of accessories in the vehicle, as it accurately and reliably determines when the vehicle engine is running so as to allow the accessory to be switched on, automatically enabling a relay that makes it possible to feed directly from the vehicle battery.
This reduces the risk of using an accessory when the vehicle is off, mistakenly risking consuming the main battery.
The unit is mounted in the engine compartment where you have easy access to the vehicle battery.
When the engine stops, the relay switches to its rest position by disconnecting the accessory, then the ERD Engine Running Detector Unit remains on in low consumption mode to prevent battery discharge.
A typical application of this device is the automatic switching on of daytime running lights in vehicles.
